The Uncanny Post
Make something from a dream.
Turn a remembered image into a poem, drawing, scene or sound. These prompts work with a notebook and your own tools, whether or not you use the Post.

Three ways into a creative response
Choose a detail you remember clearly and give yourself a small, finishable task.
- A drawing: sketch one object in three moods. Label changes you invented.
- A scene: write the same encounter from two viewpoints. Keep the original dream beside it.
- A poem: use one remembered line of dialogue as the first line. Let the rest be a new work.
Keep memory, reflection and invention distinct
Label a later memory as a later addition, an association as a reflection and a fictional expansion as a retelling. There is no need to make a fragment more dramatic before it deserves a page.
AI-generated pictures or text can invent details. Disclose that assistance when sharing the work, and do not use an invented image as evidence of what happened in the dream.
Credit the people and material involved
Use your own work or material you have permission to reuse. Check the actual license for each image, recording, font or excerpt; keep attribution and license notices with it. A search result or the phrase 'royalty free' does not tell you every condition of use.
Permission to read a dream is not permission to publish somebody else's personal account. Get their agreement and discuss names, audience and attribution before sharing.
What makes a useful proposal
We welcome a specific idea that helps people record, explore or create from dreams. Tell us what a reader will be able to do afterward.
- A working title, short outline and intended reader.
- One example or a link to relevant work; do not send private customer material.
- Your preferred credit, source links and any permissions or license restrictions.
- Whether AI helped create the work, and which parts you made yourself.
- Any commercial relationship or payment expectation, stated before work begins.
What happens after you send it
A proposal starts a conversation. It does not automatically publish your work, grant us a reuse license or create a paid commission. Scope, credit, permissions and any payment would need an explicit agreement. We do not currently operate a creator marketplace, ambassador or revenue-share program.
For a first contact, email a brief outline rather than a large attachment. Our inbox is not continuously monitored.
Share a creative response thoughtfully
Review the audience and discussion preference before sharing. Make room for another reader to see the work differently. A creative piece does not have to reveal the private dream behind it.
